5 days down South – Part 10 : Going Home.
After 4 days of good time in South Island, we finally had to leave on the 5th day. And that was no easy feat because it meant we had to drive 500+ km back to Christchurch for our flight home.
Choosing a route for this drive was a tough decision. The hubby and I wanted to take a different route from the one we took when we came, so that we could explore more places.
We eventually decided on a route that appeared on the map to be more scenic, since it took us past a lake.
For hours, our journey was like cutting through mountains. Endless rows of mountains.

It was boring… until we reached the lake. Lake Aviemore. Why didn’t anyone or any book ever mention this heavenly place?!

It was SO beautiful. And best of all, since it was not a touristy spot, we were the only ones there! =)

The above photo was straight out of my camera. That was really how the water looked like in the lake.
It looks cloudy and milky, but when we went closer, we realised that the water was incredibly clear.

This drive back to Christchurch was definitely worth it.
