Love is Hard Work.
My nieces are crazy about the story, The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. When we were in Queenstown, I joined them to watch the DVD and one scene struck me hard.
This was the scene where the lead actors, Ryan Gosling and Rachel Adams had a fight and Ryan Gosling said to her -
That’s what we do.
We fight.
So it’s not going to be easy, it’s going to be really hard.
And we’re going to have to work at this every day but I want to do that because I want you.
I want all of you forever. You and Me. Every day.
It reminded me of my own relationship with the hubby.
This photo was taken in Glenorchy, Queenstown a few days ago. We were lovey dovey and cheery.

In less than 24 hours, we had a huge fight and were screaming so loudly at each other, I think the neighbours would have called the police if we hadn’t closed the windows.
And in another less than 24 hours, if the neighbours peered into our house, they would see us all calm and cuddly and eating dinner or lying in each other’s laps.
Yeap, we’re a crazy couple.
We used to fight all the time because we are so different. Eventually we made a pact that we would agree to disagree. And we also got clever, and knew that sometimes we have to cut out the fighting and crying part and go straight to make up mode.
It’s something we work at together every day. Because we really want each other.
Love is a freaking lot of hard work.

I’m crazy over Notebook too! I’ve watched & read both movie & novel version of Notebook. You should check out the sequel to the book, The Wedding. Extremely touching & great lessons to be learnt. I can actually email u the ebook if u want it. ^^
Beautiful entry…
Was just wondering @Ally, if one could ask for the ebook from here, if you don’t mind me asking dear Bing.
xx
Well, I’ll need ur email to pass u the soft copy ^^
I read the book before the movie came out, never knew they will make a movie out of it. Love the story to bits! Been reading it 4 times within the span 2 years.
Talking about arguements, the husband and I can go dramatic too! He dreads my silent cold war… The joy of married life
You are so right. Keeping the love in a marriage really takes a lot of hard work, its not easy but its not impossible too. I totaly understand the fights and the lovey dovey that can take place in less than 24 hours.
You said it… Sigh, I just had a fight with my other half. On the phone no less. But we sorta made up already. But the good times should def outweigh the bad
Thanks for sharing this – it brings home the fact that it’s normal to fight, even if you are close and loving.
I wept when I read a couple of your posts today. I am truly blessed to have known you from before and I am truly blessed to have bumped into your site again today. Thanks.
