Diversity On The Table – A Cooking Class.
What do you get when you put a bunch of ladies together and they all come from different parts of world and like to eat and cook?
Diversity On The Table! Or DOTT for short.

We are friends who have self-formed a cooking class. At every session, the host would introduce some local recipes from her country. I attended a session for the first time and had heaps of fun learning to cook Belgian food.
We started off with making dessert – Belgian Tiramisu. It’s a much simpler version than the traditional Italian style, and is made with a type of Belgian biscuits called Speculoos.

Our chef of the day showing us the tips to yummy Belgian food!

Layering the mascarpone cheese cream and biscuits was the best part.

Some of us got to lick the bowl!

Super yummilicious stuff.

The starter was Flemish Style Asparagus.

It’s traditionally made with white asparagus, but there aren’t any in South Africa, so we improvised with huge stalks of green asparagus.

This dish was super easy and incredibly tasty. I’ll be sharing a step by step tutorial for it shortly.

Main course was Chicken Waterzooi A La Gantoise, which was a chicken cooked in a lovely broth and thickened with cream and egg yolk. It was such an indulgence!

Here’s me, stealing a camwhoring moment just before I tucked into my chicken. =)

I love my DOTT cooking class!
