Uncle, Auntie, Vote For Me.

In 3 days’ time, the voting period for the Singapore Blog Awards 2011 will close.

If you’re a faithful follower of this blog, you would have noticed that other than the required blog entry on the awards and the banner I’ve placed above this post, I have not rallied at all for votes for me.

It’s so different from last year when my blog first went public and I was nominated for the same category. I was so excited, I rallied for my mother, father, auntie, uncle, cousin, neighbour, friend, friend’s friend’s friend’s friend, 13th and 14th grand aunt.. basically every living person to vote for me.

It was heaps of fun then. But in the process, I lost my focus a little and found myself swerving off track from my real writing.

This year, I resolved to stay focused and I concentrated even more on writing during the awards period than any other time. With the increase in the volume of visitors to this space, comes the greater responsibility to write even better than before.

Big thanks *blowing kisses* to everyone who has voted for me and kept me consistently in the top 3 contenders for the Best Lifestyle Blog category.

I don’t share many tips on enhancing one’s lifestyle. Who in their right mind would want tips from me? Hopefully my suburban expat housewifey lifestyle entertains enough to let me snag the award this year. =)

P/S. I’m thinking of opening up my Comments pages again. Talking to myself so much is making me go senile faster. So this post is open for your Comments. You can use an anonymous name/email if you like. I assure you that I’m not smart enough to track you down.. not all the time, anyways. *looking evil*

So, leave word for me here.. tell me -

(1) How long have you been reading my blog for? and (2) In the spirit of best blogs, recommend me a blog to read that you think I would like.. even if it’s your own blog!

Leave a comment HERE.

xoxo, Bing

  1. Hi Bing,

I’ve been following your blog for almost a year when you were in NZ, I think. Found your blog from SBA last year and Nuffnang’s Blog of the Month (I guess). Ever since, I’ve listed your blog under “Blog I Follow” in my own blog (The Wanderer’s Journal at http://www.mywanderingstory.com) so I can find you easily, check if there are updates on your blog and basically, read it everyday when I have internet access.

I’ve been following Leonny’s Our Everyday Things and Karen Cheng’s blog religiously too. Three of you are my all-time favorite online reading materials and blog inspirations

All the best for SBA 2011! You deserve to win.

    Cheers,

    Christine

    • Thanks Christine! We’ve had a challenging race and I’m glad it’s done. It really doesn’t matter who wins. It’s enjoying the process that matters!

I read both Leonny and Karen too. Actually Karen Cheng was the one who pushed me to go public with my blog. Else I would still be writing in private. Haha… She’s my constant mentor and inspiration in blogging.

Good luck to you for the awards!

  13. Hi :) I’ve been reading your blog for about a year or more now… I only wanted to comment because I’ve got this amazing site to recommend (not mine) but which I’ve been following for almost two years now.

She is an amazing and inspiring mother with a kid with Down Syndrome. I’m young but I’ve always wanted a kid, thus I stumbled upon her blog. The way she looks at life, the way she writes… It has become a weekly ritual for me to read her blog. Sometimes during the down parts of my life, her blog gives me a reality check and wake up call… That life is better than what it seems. So I’d like to share it with everyone, especially you.

    Enjoy, and take care. xx

  14. So great to see your comments back! I read pretty much everything in your blog, it’s great and the photography is stunning. And of course I like the fellow expat in Joburg perspective. As for other good blogs, I recommend “I was an expat wife”, you might already follow it. Great expat stories from a Canadian who lived in Singapore and France, and superb writing and life views. Good luck with the awards!

    • I haven’t decided to place Comments back on. Just this post! And yes, I like “I was an expat wife” too. Thanks for the support!

  15. Hi Bing! I haven’t been reading your blog for as long as others, having only discovered it from the finalist page on OMY.sg’s blog awards =)
But really happy to tell you that I’m hooked! Lovely blog you have here, and of course I voted for you in the blog awards. I really really hope you win.

  16. Hi Karen!

I can’t really remember when I started reading your blog, probably a year ago? :) As for blogs, I would recommend ickleoriental.net

  17. I have been following your blog since last year through one of the blogs that I also read daily. I found your blog about life and adventure so entertaining that I actually saved it to my favorites. I so love your blog! It expresses yourself. I can see how compassionate you are. Keep up your good deeds and you’re going to receive many good things in life.

    More Power!

    • Thanks Henelle! Yes, I will definitely keep up with doing good here. We feel that that’s why we were sent here. =)

  18. I’ve been reading your blog for around coming to a year.. when I was searching for reviews on wedding bands and u wrote a blog about ur bad experience & that article did helped me! hehe.. I also signed up at omy to vote for u. Hope you’ll win!
I’ve actually met u in person @ Pasir Ris to donate my bagpack of clothes and is really thankful that U can going the extra mile to help the less privileged.

Love the way you write especially accompanied with beautiful pictures. Your content is highly interesting & I must admit that I envy your lifestyle despite knowing the ups and downside of it as well. I felt I could pick up tips from you on how to accomodate to a new environment too especially when I’ll be moving over to HK to join my husband in 2 months time. I have little jitters and all but it can’t be compared to u moving to 2 such far away places and since u can do it, I hope I can too!

    • Thanks for your vote, Christina! And thanks for your contribution! I remember you.. and that gigantic bagpack. My husband was eyeing that backpack (haha!) and then we discovered you had so many goodies in it! Hahaha.. The kids in Kliptown have received them all. Thanks again for your amazing generosity.

I document the good things that come my way because years from now, I want to remember the good days we had and not a bit of the tough moments. No one’s life is perfect because life cannot be perfect. It was never meant to be. When my life felt perfect, it came crumbling down on me the next moment. I learnt it the hard way. So with the hard bits, trust that the good is on its way. I’m envious that you are moving to HKG! I LOVE LOVE LOVE HKG! Every new environment that you move to is an opportunity of a lifetime. Not many people get to do it. Cherish the opportunity and enjoy your new home! All the best!

  19. Hey Bing, been following your blog for the past year or two. Just wanted to let you know I’m a big fan – love the pictures you take, the stories you tell, the aphorisms you conjure, and the other side of life you show that not many get to see.

Continue being the way you are – I’m sure you’re an inspiration to many others as it is to me!

    • Hi Wicked Cucumber! What a cute nickname.. haha.. =)

Thanks for the support. I’m glad you enjoy my blog!

      Cheers
      Bing

  20. Oh, and I’d also recommend this blog written by a young mother whose writing reveals her love for life, her family and her beautiful daughter.
