Jacky Cheung 1/2 Century Tour Concert 2011.

When a good friend told me she’s bought a pair of tickets for the Jacky Cheung concert and said she was counting on me to go with her, I was ecstatic.

The last time I had attended a Jacky Cheung concert was in 2007. Not only did I have a fantastic time, I remember being so moved by his performance that I had teared when he belted several songs.

Yeap, I’m a soppy big fan. I grew up with his music and there’s no other Asian artiste that I have paid or would pay this kind of money to watch sing live.

It’s no wonder that Jacky Cheung is titled the “God of Songs” in Asia. His strength and durability is in a class of its own. 50 years old and still so strong and popular on stage!

The stadium was packed! His audience ranged from the elderly to the young kids, from the rich and high class to the ah bengs. It’s crazy how his music has touched so many people and to hear the audience sing along with some of his famous pieces was just awesome.

The horrible part of the concert was that the security refused to let me in with my DSLR. WTF! I go everywhere with my camera! I had to tuck it into a locker and only had my iPhone camera. ^#^&*@@#&!!

I was furious because this concert has already been documented so extensively by fans in blogs and Youtube. Just Google it. What were they worried that fans would capture that isn’t already online? The security even tried to stop me when I was shooting a video clip with my iPhone! &*(#^&*#@*^#!!!!

At least it was a f2.4 lens and I still managed to capture some good memories of the evening.

A gorgeous stage. Effects. Dancing. 3 hours of non-stop singing. Flawless (at least to my ears), non-stop singing. It was worth every cent and all the effort to be in Singapore to watch him.

If you’re not from Asia and have no idea who Jacky Cheung is, check out a very short clip I shot with my iPhone. This song is an old popular classic and not one of his own originals.

  6. Hi Bing. Saw your picture up there and i think you’re beautiful. Jacky is performing in KL this week and i’m definitely going. Can i ask you what is the suitable dress code to wear since you have attended the concert. I’m not very sure b’coz i can wear jeans if i’m going to young star concert but for Jacky with his sweet and romantic song has confused me. I’m his fan and can’t wait to see him soon.

    • Hi Ling

Thanks for the compliment! It really doesn’t matter what you wear. Just wear what you would feel comfortable in coz he sings for a full 3 hours! Have a good time.. I’m sure you will!

      Cheers
      Bing
