My Flight Experience With Jetstar.
First of all, I must make a huge statement that I am extremely loyal to my national carrier. I fly everywhere on Singapore Airlines, where possible and I think they are the BEST, hands down.
But this review is on my flight experience on Jetstar because they sponsored my flight from Melbourne back to Singapore.

I honestly didn’t think I would enjoy the flight because I’m pro-SIA and tend to think all other airlines are not comparable to my national carrier. But my experience surprised me. It was good. Actually, it was kind of close to great. So it’s only fair that I put aside my snotty nose and write an honest review of them.
Given the amount of travel I do every year, I’m a pretty fussy housewife. I like to have space. I like to have a good meal. And I like my entertainment.
First of all.. look.. leather seats on a Airbus A330 aircraft. Nice.

I like the 2-4-2 configuration. I can’t stand the 3-4-3 configuration aircrafts. Imagine having to cross past two persons to go to the bathroom!
The way Jetstar operates as compared to other commercial airlines is that their “perks” are itemised and individually charged. You want luggage allowance, you pay. You want blanket, you pay. You want inflight entertainment, you pay. You want food, you choose and you pay. You want toothbrush, ear plugs, eye mask, neck rest? YOU PAY.
Which Jetstar did. Paid for us, I mean. So we had all the perks. Niiiiice.
Blanket.

“Comfort Pack”. A nice pouch containing ear plugs, eye mask, neck rest, toothbrush and socks.

The first thing I did was blow up the neck rest. Vital companion for long flights in economy class!

And then they brought me the entertainment system and this was the point where I got really impressed.

Your own mini TV with noise-cancellation suction capped earphones. You get a range of stuff from movies to TV shows, MTVs, educational stuff and games for kids.

It wasn’t SIA standard and didn’t have 80 movies to choose from. But it had new films and I managed to find a movie to watch for a couple of hours while I had my meal.

Speaking of meal, the food was GOOD. I’m a fussy eater onboard. But both meals were yummilicious and I ate every morsel. *looking sheepish*

I was genuinely surprised that the food was good. It was simple and was basically a meal carton and a drink. No bread roll, starter, cheese and crackers or dessert kind of presentation. But it was hearty and delicious.
As for service, my very first experience with Jetstar Asia didn’t go very well several years ago. So I wasn’t expecting alot this time. But it turned out to be very warm and pleasant. The crew taking care of my side of the aircraft was sweet and helpful, and she didn’t realise I was a media reviewer till almost the end of the flight.

So, it was all in all, a good flight. I rested, ate well and arrived fresh in Singapore.

I have to admit that I was impressed by Jetstar’s product. I didn’t expect to.. yes, I’m snotty patriotic like that.. but I was. *thumbs up*
