My Site Was Hacked

That’s how my face has been like for the last 48 hours. Not kidding.
Yes, my website has been hacked. I’ve spent the last two days deleting malicious files. Only to have them pop up again after every 4 hours. Those hackers are mean!
My host server said my blog posts were intact. So I did a quick back up and managed to breathe a litte. But the infrastructure of my site had to be destroyed to flush out the problem. Sob! It’s like watching the house you’ve built burn while you grab your laptop and camera and try your best to be happy that at least the most important things have been saved.
My cooking site and gallery are still down and I don’t have any energy left for now to look at them. It’s Chinese New Year and I really want to enjoy it for now. I guess no one will be cooking right now anyways. And I still don’t know if my site is fully secured and if those bad scripts will appear again. I can only wait and see..
My little gal gave me a hug and wished me the best of luck. My boy cracked jokes and made me laugh despite feeling so angry and sad. The hubby sat beside me and helped me hunt down malicious files into the late night, and let me sleep late this morning. My phone kept beeping with encouraging and comforting messages.
Despite this shit that happened, I am warmed by the support for this space. This is my little personal haven. And it’s heartening to know that it has become special to so many people.
I’m not defeated! This was a good learning lesson. And a hard battle I had with those damn hacks. If you are thinking of self-hosting, at least you have a glimpse of what you may be in for. Haha..
Happy Chinese New Year, everyone!

Awww, that’s terrible! So sorry you have to deal with all that nonsense.
I’m glad your site seems to be up and running again
Enjoy the Chinese New Year!

I still have alot of work to make sure it’s stable and secure. And to get my cooking and gallery sites running again. But it’ll happen! In the meantime, I will eat heaps of goodies and enjoy this new year. Hahaha! Let’s catch up when I’m back!

I’m so glad things are up and running again. But I’m sorry for what you had to go through.
I had a meeting with some Elizabeth Glaser colleagues this afternoon. One of them kept telling me about how much she loves Bing’s blog
That’s sweet! Thanks! =)
