Crossing 1,000,000 Hits Mark
I remember the day I decided to take this blog public.
It was 14 January 2010. I spent 3 days cleaning up my blog, tweaking my design, making sure it was perfect, before I finally turned off the privacy buttons and made storyofbing.com a public blog. Accessible and searchable by everyone who had access to internet.
I had felt so nervous. What if no one read it? Or worse, what if everyone hated it?
The pressure made me write harder. But eventually gaining the readership also got to me. At one point, I got a little sucked into the world of advertising and making money from my blog. I had blinking advertising banners at every corner of my blog and tracked my readership every hour. It took alot of enjoyment out of blogging.
So one day, I stripped my blog of blog banners, turned off my comments button and decided to focus on writing and less on gaining popularity. I stopped checking my statistics so much and stopped making it all about my readers, but once again all about me and my family. This, was going to be my family legacy afterall.
And what do you know? I ran a check on my statistics today and realised that I had crossed the ONE MILLION HITS mark and didn’t even know it.

Almost exactly 2 years since I’ve gone public and more than 1,000,000 views, 1,400 blog posts and more than 4,000 comments later, I am feeling extremely grateful. Grateful for the opportunity to do this. And for all the support I’ve received in the past 2 years. Blogging has been the most amazing experience for me. I hope to be able to do this for a long long time to come.
Thanks everyone for reading my blog.
xx

Congratulations! Keep on blogging
What an amazing accomplishment in just two years. Your blog is definitely a guiding beacon for me in terms of professionalism. And thanks for passing on the warning about flashing ads and stats. I think wr all go through that phase as our blog grows. The same frustration was what inspired me to write that King Pageview story the other day.
Thank you for a great blog and thank you for always sharing your advice so freely.
Congratulations! I love your blog. It’s always a fun read.
Congratulations. I am working on it myself!
