I’ve been watching a lot of Masterchef Australia and was recently very inspired by one of the contestants, Audra. She’s a Singaporean who has moved to Australia and in one episode, she made a winning dish of Chinese Potstickers. She said she makes the dish all the time for her family and it’s delicious.
I loved the idea of making dumplings with my family and everyone digging into those golden parcels. So I did a ton of research on it and almost gave up by the time I read about making dumpling wrappers from scratch. It sounded like way too much work. I went out and found a pack of ready-to-use dumpling wrappers instead. Heh heh.
They turned out to be pretty easy to make, since I had decided to cheat and use store bought wrappers. I like cooking and love making meals for my loved ones, but I don’t love cooking that much to learn to make everything from scratch. So I take short cuts.
The filling was simply a combination I often use for stuffed cabbage rolls. It’s simple and delicious.
The hardest part of making these dumplings was the pleating and sealing of the wrapper to create that lovely parcel.
Eating these dumplings was the easiest part. Deliciously crispy on one side, soft on the other sides and juicy in the inside. So yummmm..
The hubby certainly loved his special dumplings dinner. =)
