Universal Studios Singapore.

I thought I was done with theme parks and roller coasters after our Six Flags Adventure. But when my cousins wanted to go to the Universal Studios Singapore, I found myself signing up for it as well. Haha.. It was crazy because it was a VERY wet day. I’m talking about torrential rain. It was certainly a first for me.. being in the first row of the Battlestar Galactica roller coaster, all strapped in.. and the machine moved into THE RAIN. It was exhilarating alright. But it was also darn painful with the water hitting on our faces and getting completely drenched. I don’t think I’ve played in the rain like this since I was 16 years old. I also went on the carousel for probably the first time in my life since I can remember, took some pictures...

More Painting With Light.. At The Graffiti Walls.

Posted on Jul 13, 2011 in Bing, Family, Photography, South Africa

I mentioned in my earlier post, that we were in a slightly dodgey location when we did our painting with light. It was called Newtown and although it wasn’t necessary an unsafe neighbourhood to walk about in, it wasn’t a place that we would roam about on our own. We were there in January 2011 and I had loved the walk because of the graffiti walls. See Graffiti Photo Walk. I was excited to go back to do painting with light because it was such a privilege for our gal to be able to see all this graffiti art of Joburg city. What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be when I discovered that all the walls that we had seen in January have been painted over! I didn’t know they “changed” the art so quickly. The old...

Painting With Light.

It was a very cold evening. But we were very excited. A small group of photography enthusiasts were meeting up and we were going to make some “light art”. We came to.. of all places.. a large trash dumping ground. It was too dark for me to see what was around. Which was good for me, I guess. I could then focus on setting up my camera, remote trigger and tripod. We had a huge bunch of sparklers and a laser light for this experiment. The last time we tried painting with light was at home – see Playing With Light, and it was really fun. But being in a huge open space with abandoned buidings as the setting was simply amazing. Here was our first try with sparklers. A giant mess. Our girl tried to draw a sun...

Stop Motion Videos.

Our boy loves stop motion videos. He would patiently set up his camera and shoot hundreds of pictures, and patiently string it all together to form one video. He did a couple of nice ones for my website with his cousin. I only added the music. Check it out – The next one is funny. The “i” in Bing is a fried chicken drumstick, our boy’s favourite food. Talk about leaving his signature in his work!...

My Father.

This is my favourite photo of my father and I. Circa 1976. My father was cutting my hair. We don’t have many photos together when I was a toddler because our family was poor and photos were expensive. As soon as I was old enough, I scanned this picture into my computer and it has been there ever since. I love how I was so still in this picture.. so trusting. And Dad had this intense look of concentration, like it was so important to get my hair right. And Dad was… so young. Almost like a teenager himself. What a load of responsibility I must have been. =) Here we are 30 years later, still looking good together. And Dad looking so much more relaxed and confident in his own skin. I love my father. Thanks for everything,...
