Hanging Out With My Girlfriends

Just before I left South Africa, one of the last things I did with a couple of my gal pals was chill out over champagne and spa treatments at the Rain Urban Boutique. Rain was a quiet little nook in the bustling mall of Rosebank and it was delightful to get discounted rates to a morning of indulgence. I loved that the place was painted a Tiffany-like blue and everything was so neat and modern. For a special occasion, they would even organise champagne and nibbles! My girlfriends and I were pampered in shoulder massages, foot massages and manicures. All the while sipping bubbly and nibbling at cheese. It was a lovely way to spend a morning together. Looking back, it was probably the last time we would ever get together like this.. well, at least for a long...

Philips ‘+’ Project – Taking Care of Singapore

Posted on Oct 12, 2012 in Bing, Reviews & Advertorials

I was unwell a few weeks ago and had spent a lot of time in and out of hospitals and Drs’ offices. The doctors in South Africa were great. They did a proper job by asking lots of questions. One of them asked me about my lifestyle in great detail. She made me squirm with my answers. In short, I ate too much junk, drank too much wine, was not getting enough sleep and was not taking good care of my general health. Basically, she told me that my physical well-being was being badly neglected. Shame on me. =( In those few weeks, I’ve learnt the precious lesson of looking after my health and well-being. Nothing else mattered when I had woken up every day in excruciating pain. Now that I am well and about, I know that my...

My Scotch™ Kitchen Scissors

One of the most important gadgets in my kitchen is my pair of kitchen scissors. We CANNOT live without it. We use it every day for so many things. Trim the ends of my flowers. Cut bacon into bits. Snip my herbs and spring onions. Open packages. Cut my baking paper to fit baking pans. Cut my photos. Slice my pizza. Chop up my instant noodles while they are cooking in the pot. De-bone my chicken. Shred cooked chicken. Cut dried fruit into small pieces for our cheese board. Here’s the best way to get perfect strips of basil, mint or any leafy herb with a pair of kitchen scissors. And it’s the perfect tool to open my bottle caps with with my tiny hands. There are so many more uses I can list for our kitchen scissors. We...

The Bing Necklace

If you’ve been observant, you would have noticed that I’ve been wearing a new necklace alot lately. I call it the Bing necklace and it was generously customised and made for me by Valerie from My Little Bow. They are an online fashion store and have all kinds of customised name accessories, like necklaces, rings, bracelets, bangles, earrings and keychains. I’ve wanted a Bing necklace from the first time I had watched Sex And The City and discovered that the main character, Carrie had a Carrie necklace. I want! I want! I want! It took a long time before I finally have one because I’ve never liked the name necklaces I saw in the stores or online. Either the fonts were ugly. Or the workmanship was bad. Or it was so chunky, it would look like it wore me...
